A combination of state and federal income tax credits has significantly reduced the cost of converting a station to E85. The federal incentive provides a tax credit equal to 30%, and the state provides a tax credit equal to 40%, of the total costs associated with the conversion. An expansion project that includes the Kansas Corn Commission, United Bio Energy, and the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition can also provide limited grant funding for these stations, as well as an imaging package valued at nearly $800. THE FIRST STEP in getting E85 near you is talking with your local fuel provider. Many are unaware of E85, and some may be concerned about market demand. Interest in E85 is growing and many new stations are opening in Kansas and nationwide. Please encourage your local retailer visit our Kansas Ethanol Retailers Web pages and NEVC’s website at www.e85fuel.com If you know a retailer who is interested in adding E85 or has questions about it, please have them contact our office at 800-489-2676. |
